Wizard or Arcanist Building a Shadow / Darkness Spell caster Flavor first optimize second

Advice

ok so i forgone my want to build a Blaster as I want to play something other than a DPS/DPR Type character (Though some DMG would still be good

So the Image in my head is a Spellcaster who is Gifted for is Age Being a head of his time. He Specializes in spell like Black Tentacles

Shadow spells and cold spells

i can take some 3.5 feat like utter cold

I need to know the best class (Archetype) Feats and Features to take
will be going human as this is more for the flavor as the build is more about flavor with some optimization

I Want to build it starting at lv(7) The game may go as as 15/16th level

i just never built such a character and need complete advice

Wizard would be your best bet, the advanced progression is huge, has several advantages over the Arcanist features with the right school choice, and Arcanist boosting Save DCs and CL, the biggest attraction to their spellcasting, doesn't help a whole lot here. Note that being Human, I highly recommend the Dimdweller racial trait, which gives you Darkvision 60' in exchange for your free skill point; having high Intelligence and potentially Favored Class Bonus, you can easily get by without an extra skill rank per level.

The biggest problem is that several Shadow/Darkness spells are scattered all over the place in terms of spell schools. The biggest set of them are Illusions, followed by Conjuration and Evocation, and then some minor (but powerful) bits in the remaining schools. This can be a problem starting out, but with proper spell planning, you can make it work. As such, you would want to make Enchantment and Necromancy your opposed schools, as they have the least Shadow/Cold spells while not having the versatility of the Transmutation or Abjuration schools.

Also keep in mind that a lot of your spells may not work on certain enemies, such as using Darkness on enemies that have Darkvision, Deeper Darkness (which you wouldn't be able to see through in certain conditions) on enemies that have the See in Darkness ability, and so on. They do get some interesting metamagic feat options though (such as Heighten to counter those enemies with Daylight spells/SLAs), so I'd look into those for bonus/regular feats and see if they can help your viability.

Ok going with a HUMAN (MALE) shadow-caster wizard who focus on (Illusion) and with the following opposition schools Enchantment and Necromancy

My question is how do my feats look

lv(1) Spell Focus (Illusion) (I assume increasing my Dc for my shadow spells is important) Also i know this is a gateway feat for my other feats i may need)

HBF(1) Mages Tattoo (Illusion) dose increasing my caster lv help me hear

WBf(1) SCRIBE sCROLL (Free)

lv(3) Tenebrous Spell (is this any good)

lv(5) Umbral Spell (is this worth it)

lv(7) not sure what to put here

Also for traits I Plan to take Metamagic master and Magical Lineage Black Tentacles

My character concept is over done i know but i want a Mage who can attack with his Shadows , using them to grapple and DMG his foe's

I plan to focus on the Black Tentacle spell (then retrain my stuff to the greater version when able)

I plan to Use the Tenberous spell with the umbral spell and later through Spell perfection Add Dazing spell to effect

(can I do this)

what should i change what can I improve

I can Actually start this build at lv (8) as my current character will switch out when she reaches lv (8) Stories reasons
