Mixed Scales feat and "abilities that rely on scale color"

So, the Mixed Scales feat for Kobolds states:

Mixed Scales wrote:
Benefit: Choose an additional color for your Draconic Aspect feat or dragon-scaled racial trait. You gain the benefits of both this color and the color you originally chose... If you gain abilities that rely on scale color, choose which color gains the benefits.

So, you get the benefits of both scale colors, but you still have to choose which color gets the benefits? Does that mean when I use Draconic Breath and have both red and blue scales, I either choose which breath weapon I use when I activate the ability, or I choose which color of breath weapon I can use when I select the feat and I'm stuck with it?

If it's the first interpretation, how would that work with the Draconic Magic feat, which gives me a set of two spell-like abilities based on my color?

Still looking for an answer on this.

I would say your second interpretation; when you gain an ability that depends on scale colour you choose which colour and are locked in to that choice (for that ability only) going forwards.

You quoted the answer. When you gain an ability, choose which color that ability benefits at that time. This is a single choice taken when the ability is gained, not a choice made when used.

For the Draconic Magic feat, you are gaining abilities, so make a choice with the feat. RAW, you get the paired abilities for a single color. RAI, I expect the same. However, as a GM, I would allow you to either take the feat twice (once per color) or allow you to choose one ability from each color rather than the two fro a color.

Eh, I don't like that answer, but it makes sense, so I can't argue it, lol.

Well, if you can gain Draconic Magic temporarily, by some method, you can choos eaach time. However, you will likely have to choose the same choice in any given day. See the FAQ for the paragon surge spell.

Half-elf Paladin with Racial Heritage (Kobold).

Racial Paragon Vigilante talent benefits this. Its basically Martial Versatility but with race feats.
