Would this modify in any way a monks unarmed strike ability? I know it isnt under the trait but it seems strange that there isnt something due to larger hands and strong grip..... seems to me its right up the monks alley so to speak...

Never give weight to the "fluff" of an ability. Only the part where they say what it actually does (the "crunch") counts for anything.
