Ice sorcerer help in Wrath of the Righteous

Advice

Hey, I need some advice. I'm still very new to Dnd. I've only played warlock in 5e to lvl 5 and a Paladin lvl 2. Well I'm making a human sorcerer starting lvl 3 in Wrath of the Righteous. I need help building a burst damage ice sorcerer. I know to use metamagic, but I can't make use of those feats until much higher level. Please any help at all would be appreciated. I'm still very new. So bear with me.

Might I suggest a Kinetecist instead? It will let you do ice blasts all day instead of being limited by your spell slots.

Otherwise feats to pick would be things like spell focus and the like.
There are multiple guides out there that deal with the specefics of how to do certain things. There are multiple for sorcerers.

Here is a guide for sorcerers

For Wrath of the Righteous stick with Sorceror, Mythic does not support the Kinetecist.
Fortunatly you are playing a campaign in easy mode as you will get mythic power which makes everything easy so it is very hard to make bad decisions

I recomend Silver Dragon Bloodline, for a 1st level spell Snowball does cold damage and with a silver dragon bloodline that will be 3d6+3. At low levels take feats like Spell penetration , as you will be up against lots of Outsiders and Elemental Focus or Spell focus (Evocation) then take metamagic at higher levels

I like the tattoed sorceror archetype for the familiar and the free varisian tattoo feat which boosts caster level of your evocation spells by 1 so that Snowball spell does 4d6 +4

Elemental bloodline water does not get the bonus damage but you can covert any spell to cold damage. Try to stick to a few blasting spells you can manipulate with metamagic later and otherwise take a few utility spells.

A dragon sorceror has mage armour already at level 3 , so consider Enlarge person to boost your freindly mellee or vanish for short duration invisibility

Liberty's Edge

Blaster/Sniper Sorcerer

Feats to Consider
Intensify Spell, Empower Spell, Spell Focus (Greater Spell Focus), Spell Penetration (Greater Spell Penetration), Dodge, Toughness, Elemental Spell [cold]

[not in this order mind you]

As JohnHawkins suggested, Silver Dragon Sorcerer Bloodline will certainly help as well.

Things to consider:

1. Wrath is a mythic campaign, effectively tacking on a extra rules system, and intended to go all the way to level 20
2. The campaign is very heavy on demons (I am playing it, currently only at the middle of book 1,but it's an easy guess). Demons have spell resistance, and elemental resistances and immunities. You need to have ways around those demonic traits.

Only a limited amount of spells have mythic versions, and a quick glance I only see Ice Storm (L4) and Cone of Cold(L5) as ice based spells.

Cone of Cold comes a bit late for most campaigns, but its mythic effects are pretty strong.
Ice Storms mythic effect seems meh.

One of the strongest ability in all of mythic, and one that covers the main weakness of sorcerers, is available to you though:
Wild Arcana. That allows you to cast any spell available to sorcerer/wizards. You can solve any problem, just about, but only if you know the system well enough to know the right spell. It's great but requires a lot of work.

Other things to consider:
The Rime Metamagic is strong. Slowing down enemies gives a lot of battlefield control. Unfortunately metamagic on sorcerers increases your cast time. You can get around that with the "Spontaneous Metafocus" feat. It only applies to a single spell though.

The spell Snowball is in a weird place right now. It is reprinted in the newest book, and weakened (Changed to evocation, added SR, lost stagger). Check with your DM which version of the spell you use.

Its brother Flurry of Snowballs is still pretty good. 30ft cone at level 2, doesn't scale though.

If you can find a way to deliver it, Frigid Touch is a powerful effect. Stagger is one of the best debuffs in the game, and Frigid Touch allows no save, only needs a touch. The reason stagger is so strong is that if an enemy has many attacks, it can only swing once.

Thanks! I was looking at draconic bloodline. But one thing I was always curious about with metamagic. It says makes it a level higher. So if I use a metamagic that says +2. I would have to access to lvl 3 spell slot to cast snowball with it. Man, snowball 5d6+5 and the empower fest...that's some serious hurt.

Oh and I can only do Silver Draconic bloodline and not the tattooed archetype also. I have to choose one?

Sanderjk: Our usual DM is taking a break. So it's a new DM's first run at doing a campaign. Our usual DM is playing with us and helping as needed. I'll ask him if the snowball version in http://www.d20pfsrd.com works, but I'm sure he'll be fine with the old version.

Be aware that the AP involves am lot of demons, and they tend to have moderate cold resistance. Not immunity, but you will be dealing with resistance and SR quite often. IIRC, there is a campaign trait that helps with Demon SR so you should think about taking that.

Once you get mythic abilities there is an Archmage path ability that lets you change out the energy type of any spell you cast, which you might want so you can do cold fireball and such.

Arcane Metamastery (also from Archmage) will let you apply metamagic feats without increasing the spell level or casting time.
