Dead Heart of Xin: The Mayor's Speech

Did anyone actually write down the speech that the Lord-Mayor is giving just before the great calamity?

I was planning on it, but I always think Mayor Grobaras is selfish and evil (even though the books technically say that he's true neutral) so my speech might not be to everyone's tastes.

I would certainly be very interested in seeing other people's takes on it!

I wrote up a short speech for the mayor and then totally forgot to actually deliver it in my game. There are a few bits in there that are very specific to my group (one of them is a Vanderale currently inhabiting Sorshen's body) but maybe it can serve someone as starting point for their own version.

The Mayor's Speech:
"Most esteemed guests from the Pathfinder Society, fellow dignitaries, my dear subjects.

It is with great honor and pleasure that I may welcome you on this joyous occasion, when a long campaign, full of hardship and toil, will finally come to a triumphant finale. But it was not just my tireless effort to help the Pathfinder Society settle in our magnificent young city, but also my patience and perseverence in the face of adversity that led us inevitably to this glorious day.

As the more educated among you will know, our city has seen many heroes in its short history, going all the way back to its very beginning. Some may still remember, through own experience or that of their elders, when some 80 years ago, due to my predecessors lack of my incredible attention to detail, a group of dreadful shriezyxes was let loose from the very Irespan from whence I speak and our city was only spared terrible destruction by the efforts of a group of brave adventurers.

The history books have recorded their name as The Eyes of the Hawk, but if you had a memory as good as mine, you would know that the group was led by two noblemen named Caily and Romre Vanderale.

I would like to think that it is no mere coincidence that our city once again may benefit greatly through the actions of a Vanderale."

The mayor turns towards Daario and winks at him suggestively, muttering: "...and this one is much easier on the eye..."

He then raises his voice to address the crowd again.

"Under the leadership of Daario Vanderale, with my invaluable support, of course, the seven shards of the fabled Shattered Star have been gathered from all four winds of Varisia and beyond! And as we prepare to reforge this ancient artifact of power, which shall add to the glory and splendor of our great city of Magnimar, we have her entire group to thank, including her faithful servants Oriana, Joseph Niroden and Caramelzia of the Veil, Jasmin Kandamareus, who have also contributed to the best of their abilities.

Now, I would like to give the stage to Lady Sheila Heidmarch of the local chapter of the Pathfinder Society."

Of course he gets the names of the Varisian party members wrong.

Nice! Thank-you for posting!
