Bardic Performance: A silver balladeer gains the bardic performances listed below. These bardic performances all require the use of a silver or silver-stringed instrument, which costs twice as much as a normal masterwork instrument.

Totem Spear: Favored by the Shoanti of the Sklar-Quah, totem spears combine deadly weapons with the mournful music of Varisia’s displaced natives. The shovel-like heads of these broad spears are decorated with variously oriented hollows. In addition to its use as a weapon, a totem spear can be played using the Perform (wind instrument) skill.

So many questions!!

a) If you have a masterwork totem spear, does that give you +2 on your Perform (wind) check?
b) A 'double masterwork' instrument costs 200gp. A silver masterwork totem spear costs (25+180+300) = 505gp. A double silver masterwork totem spear costs, according to FAQ, oh, (((25+180)*2)+300) = 710gp?? However, a double masterwork instrument is doubling the 'masterworkiness', whereas a double masterwork weapon doesn't? So, if I double the masterwork part should it cost ((25+180+300)*2) = 1010gp?

A masterwork mithral totem spear costs (25+(6*500)) = 3025gp. Not impossibly unreasonable if I wanted the +1 attack.

c) Mithral weapons count as silver for the purposes of bypassing damage reduction. Does a mithral weapon that's also an instrument count as a silver instrument?
d) If I double-masterworked a mithral totem spear, that's ((25+(6*500)*2) = 6050gp. Ouch. Right?

Let's throw in Spear Dancing Style to boot.

Weapon Master's Handbook wrote:
Spear Dancing Style: Choose one weapon from the polearm or spear fighter weapon groups. While using this style, you grant the chosen weapon the double special weapon feature, using the weapon’s normal statistics for its main-hand end and the statistics of a light mace for its off-hand end. A weapon wielded in this way loses the brace and reach special weapon features.

What kind of light mace?

e) If I spear dance with a masterwork spear, do I get the +1 masterwork bonus? Enhancement bonuses?
f) If I spear dance with a silver spear, is the light mace on the other end also made of silver?

And lastly

g) If you double-masterwork a silver or mithral totem spear, does that mean that the other end is also silver or mithral for spear dancing?

or, huh. I guess I could just rock a singing steel weapon.

'double masterwork'? Did i miss something?

Sorry. A silver balladeer who wants to use some of their custom bard performances has to have a 'silver instrument' that costs twice as much as a normal masterwork instrument. I was just thinking about how that would work if your instrument was also your weapon.
