Scribe's Binding, range discrepancy

Rules Questions

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

So the spell Scribe's Binding has a range of close (25ft. & 5ft./2 levels), & a target of creature touched.

Using it tonight we decided for the sake of keeping things going, to go with a ranged touch attack. was this the correct way to do it?

Other spells (to my knowledge) word it better, for example;

Poison,
Range touch
Target living creature touched

Hold Person,
Range medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Target one humanoid creature

Scorching Ray,
In its description says that it is a ranged touch attack.

First time posting (I've managed to live off googling answers until now), sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Thanks

Unless specified as ranged touch attack I would always assume melee touch attack.

Other than in the Target line, the spell makes no mention of touching or an attack roll.

While it isn't definitive, most spells doesn't require both an attack roll and a saving throw. Usually, it is just one or the other (but exceptions are possible).

That being said, I believe the reference to the touched creature is a typo, and it should just be "Target: One creature".
