Blood sports in the Pact Worlds?

General Discussion

I have been playing around with character ideas and this has lead me to wonder what sort of violent sports would exist in the Pact Worlds? What safety measures, if any, would there be? How much of this would very from world to ,world? I am mainly thinking about what would be mainstream, as I am sure that all sorts of underground fighting arenas have, and likely always will exist.

For some reason I got the feeling that mainstream bloodsports would be the equivalent of boxing/mma stuff. The real Blood bloodsports have been said to be underground.

That being said, there is a part of me that wants to see kind of an equivalent of Urban Brawl style game (from Shadowrun) in Starfinder. I could easily see a broadcast game based around teams of 4 facing off at each other in a deserted world winner team take all sort of game going on.

In my campaign 2 of the PCs are "Death Jockeys" who basically livestream their adventures on the equivalent of Twitch and move up the leaderboards by fighting other Death Jockeys. The party XP is tracked by their subscriber count.

In-setting, this "career" is accepted, albeit begrudgingly, on most Pact Worlds, as both participants are consenting. Law enforcement usually only comes down on DJs when their fights have uncompensated collateral damage.

Eox is mentioned as having some sort of battle arena for the living to come and compete in.

Otherwise, I don't see much, but I'd surprised if violent sports didn't exist. If vidgamer is a viable profession, that means there's an audience interested in watching competitions. Add in healing magic and tech making injury a lot less perilous, and it would have to exist.

Obviously you get thrown into a not-bantha pit.

I do like the idea of there being something resembling shock boxing where the fighters wear a hybrid device that monitors vital signs, and likely intervenes if needed to prevent death.

not-Rancor.

A not-Bantha pit would be interesting, but not quite a bloodsport...

Can try a futuristic version of X-Crawl...that would be fun!!

eh. sounds a lot more like THE RUNNING MAN.

But yes, there's clearly crazy blood show reality stuff happening in the Pact Worlds.

I imagine that it's quite common in the Azlanti Star Empire as well, particularly with the Androids.

I made a former shock boxer, a real contender, for one of my first characters; he was murdered by his crooked fight promoter.
