Hideaway Limbs and Armor Mod: Quick Release Sheath

Question on how these work while wearing clothing / armor...

Common sense would dictate, in today's tech level, that you would have to be naked in order to be able to access the items in these types of compartments. Is this different in SFS? Does clothing/armor have some kind of self-sealing technology or other design accommodations that would allow one to access these compartments and the items stored within?

One of the reasons I ask is because Iseph, the iconic Android, has the Quick Release Sheath as the armor mod in the chest. If you can't be wearing armor / clothing with this, then what would be the point in having it. Note that Iseph is wearing armor in both the 1st and 4th level iterations of the pre-generated character.

My assumption is that armor is worn over clothing. Based on this, the quick release sheath is an armor upgrade, so the sheath would be on the outside and not covered by clothing. With that, you could remove your armor in a formal setting, for example, which would also mean that you don't have access to your quick release sheath and its associated stored items.

ok, Devil's Advocate - Second Skin can be worn under clothing, and accepts an armor mod. what about this situation?

Great question!

In that instance, I would take the position that you need to specify where the sheath is and if your clothing covers it. Are you wearing a shirt over your chest access? If so, then reaching under your shirt is at a minimum a swift action by itself, (if not a move action), independent of the swift action to access the contents of the sheath.

You could theoretically install it in the back to release upward behind your helmet, above your collar. This could still work and your item could essentially be drawn as a swift action in much the same way a sword is.

How the PC chooses to fit the sheath and wether or not they are choosing to cover it up would directly influence my stance on wether or not they are choosing to hinder themselves. You'd be hard pressed to convince me that your quick-release thigh-holster, worn order your denim jeans is still accessible as solely a swift action.

oh hai!! these slits in my pants? they're "ventilation slots" to help keep me cool...

(in actuality, they're "ventilation slots" in that they allow me access to my quick-release cyber holster to get my pistol to ventilate a target...)

:)

Thanks Freedom Snake!

That's totally legit. And creative. Props.
