Applying poison to melee weapons

Advice

Would it be an idea to have our Samurai's dual wakizashi's dipped in poison for boss fights? Looking at the price of lethal poisons it seems like it might be ok to use it during those times. Is that a viable strategy? Anyone have experience with poisoning weapons? Seems like it could stack well with my debuff witch.

Poison DCs are usually too low to do anything with.

If you have access to scaling racial poisons, it doesn't hurt.
If you can craft poisons for 1/3 price, then that makes it less super expensive.
If you can apply multiple doses of the SAME poison the DC's become higher, and their potential drain becomes better.
Choosing the right poison will be key, for martial drain STR to reduce their attacks, DEX to hurt their tankiness, or INT/WIS/CHA to potentially end them with a low stat dropping too low for them to function.
If caster, targeting their prime stat can reduce their ability to hurt the party, targetting their weak physicals can drop them quickly, especially CON as this reduces their likely already low CON.
WIS poison to hurt their WILL will definitely make your witch happy.

Honestly though, boss saves will be high regardless, I would not expect more than 1 tick of poison to hit them before they save.
Choose poisons that have a high DC to begin with, only burn them when you can stack in the same round for an even better DC. Maybe truestrike as well to guarantee the poison gets to them.
If you really want to poison, Shuriken/Dagger/Axes/Arrows/Bolts/etc pre poisoned and just throw/shoot an obscene amount of them. This plays into law of averages; eventually they will fail a save.

Hmm would having something like Purple Worm Poison http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/afflictions/poison/purple-worm-poison be viable vs some bosses or is a DC 24 not going to be good enough? The boss would have debuffed saves due to the witch

It could work depending on level, and there is always the chance to fail on a 1. The easy way to tell is to use yourself as an example: If you are lvl 5, melee - likely have decent CON plus class saves Plus some spells - Lets say save of +9, so you beat it on any roll above a 15, that is good odds of a failed save, debuffing by 2 means they need to roll 17 or more, even harder to succeed. And with 2 saves and 6 ticks, odds are a first round poisoning after debuff will have a huge impact.

If you are at level 10 - likely the enemy will have beneficial rolls, likely only a 20-50% if they are not immune (or can cast delay poison), and will probably die before they get a second save if they do fail - Unless the GM crafts opponents with high HP values or decent tankiness. 3 STR damage can still potentially reduce damage by 2 per hit.
