Leap Year Every 8 Years?

Why the Golarian calendar has a leap year every 8 years? Is there a specific reason for this? I know that not having Calistril 29 4716 AR is no big issue when gaming. Curious minds want to know!

Marginally shorter astronomic year? Earth one is ca. 365.25, Golarion's would be ca. 365.125...

Maybe Aroden was born on 29, so with the leap year every eight years he could live for ages, aging only 1 year every eight years?

I changed it to every four years for my home game so that I can keep the Earth and Golarion calendars in sync.
