6th-level priests of Abadar(Corp)

Advice

It has been pointed out to me that the Priest theme in Starfinder has a 6th-level feature that makes "typical lay followers of your religion have a starting attitude of helpful toward you" and has them "often provide you with simple assistance on request due to some combination of adoration, respect, or fear (depending on your religion), and even other clergy must give your opinions due consideration in matters of disagreement." It even grants +2 Diplomacy and Intimidate against such people.

Now, as per page 473, "AbadarCorp is hands down the largest, wealthiest, and most influential corporation in the Pact Worlds—in no small part because it's also the church of Abadar."

With this in mind, would it not be massively beneficial to be a priest of Abadar by 6th-level, so that you can automatically set most AbadarCorp members helpful towards you?

Sure. If you want to be a part of the space bourgeoisie, I suppose that would be pretty advantageous to you. ;)

Depends how easy it is to meet AbadarCorp KPIs. Do you want to find out what performance management by higher level priests of Abadar is like?

What advantage exactly are you hoping to gain from this. :-)

The people you seem to hope to influence would not count as 'lay people' of that religion. I think you would absolutely qualify for the +2 Diplomacy and Intimidate, but not the 'automatically set to helpful.'

Or at least, the people that you'd set to helpful would not be in positions to make influential decisions. They would be the greeters and janitors.

AbadarCorp's higher ups wouldn't be considered lay members. They would be part of the clergy.

The "due consideration" part would apply though.

Secretaries. Need a meeting with a random higher-up? "Mr. Moneybags has a hole in his schedule in half an hour."

Or those janitors you mentioned? Janitors have keys to every place they are expected to clean. "Excuse me, my son. I met with Mr. Moneybags earlier in his office, but I forgot my personal datachip. But Mr. Moneybags has gone home for the evening; could you let me into his office? I'd be just a moment."

On that note, there are likely a lot of other high ranking corporate figures outside of AbadarCorp that do worship Abadar, so you could gain a lot of influence with them.

If you met a priest of the religion you followed, regardless of their level, wouldn't you start as helpful anyway?

I'm not religious but when I see nuns at the grocery store I feel guilty for not carrying their bags or something.

Probably it would be very beneficial, except for the fact that Starfinders might tend to go into uncivilized (and very possibly) UNCIVIL areas that might not tend to have a lot of followers of a very urbane religion. So really useful for people who don't tend to go on 'adventures', but probably less useful for space murder hobos.
