Question on the Antipaladin's Fiendish Boon

Rules Questions

So I'm building an Antipaladin as the big bad for my first homebrew campaign. And I'm looking up how the Fiendish Boon works, and an idea flew through my head.

If the Antipaladin takes an Outsider (such as Succubus) as his Fiendish Boon, can he benefit from any enhancement said Outsider can normally bestow? (Such as a Succubus' Profane Gift)

Shadow Lodge

I believe so.

The ability works as summon monster, which is a (summoning) effect.

Summon Monster:
A summoned monster cannot summon or otherwise conjure another creature, nor can it use any teleportation or planar travel abilities. Creatures cannot be summoned into an environment that cannot support them. Creatures summoned using this spell cannot use spells or spell-like abilities that duplicate spells with expensive material components (such as wish).

Summoning:
Summoning: a summoning spell instantly brings a creature or object to a place you designate. When the spell ends or is dispelled, a summoned creature is instantly sent back to where it came from, but a summoned object is not sent back unless the spell description specifically indicates this. A summoned creature also goes away if it is killed or if its hit points drop to 0 or lower, but it is not really dead. It takes 24 hours for the creature to reform, during which time it can’t be summoned again.

When the spell that summoned a creature ends and the creature disappears, all the spells it has cast expire. A summoned creature cannot use any innate summoning abilities it may have.

Profane Gift isn't a summoning, teleportation, or planar travel ability, and it isn't a spell-like ability that duplicates an effect with an expensive component (even if the effects are similar in power to a Wish). So there's nothing that would prohibit it.

There are some threads discussing the issue in the context of summon monster here and here and the only concerns are about the temporary nature of the spell (not the case for Fiendish Boon) and the RP consequences. None of these are an issue here - unless you replace the succubus with a different fiendish companion, in which case she may either revoke the Profane Gift or use it against the antipaladin somehow.

Oh, fun! Not only can I make the big bad stronger, but I can also weaken him at a crucial time (like the final battle), and it can be completely with reason to do so.

Yes... but your players may feel a bit cheated if it seems that the succubus is turning on the BBEG arbitrarily. I would suggest giving them the opportunity to turn her against him somehow. That way, if the villain is handicapped in the final battle they can feel good about having caused it.

That's the idea.
