Should I make Apep Ydersius?

Serpent's Skull

Liberty's Edge

I have a player who wants to make their character's parents cultists of Apep (she's from Osirion), and I realized that Apep and Ydersius seem to share a similar niche. Is there enough space for both in a Serpent's Skull campaign? Or would it be better to make Apep a "front" for Ydersius in Osirion & ancient Egypt? Would there be anything problematic about that?

As always, depends on you, your player and your game.
By canon, no Ydersius and Apep are 2 disntict deities. But it's undeniable they share similarities although one is a human god and the other is a serpentfolk's god.
As for SS, the problem is this: Ydersius is the bad guy (ok, his decapitated and essicated head is). If you make your player's parents his (misguided?) worshippers it will have repercussion on your game as you need to examine what Ydersius knows and doesn't know about him and how this knowledge can affect the campaign. It can be great when you reveal to your player his parents were always secretely servants of the BBEG. A great "oh f~%*" moment indeed, but also keep in mind giving too much space on the center stage to a character may cause problems with the other players, depending on the kind of people you play with.

Liberty's Edge

I don't think it'll be a problem in this group, as this character hasn't had as much backstory-time as other characters (one character had a whole side adventure to save his grandma in Kalabuto). If you think it'd make for a good "oh f@*+" moment, then I think I'll use it.
