performance based murder adding style to your attack?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I was thinking that just hitting someone to death is getting kinda boring. Can someone put skill points into a kind of weapon based performance? And make the enemy go "wow" as they gasp thier last breath.

On that note i am thinking of making a hook fighter (the feat) swordlord fighter.wanting to add some flair to his fighting style. And well trying to out think my gm lead me to the performance idea. Is there anything else you guys can think of to add to this idea?

I don't really think to far into mechancs when i start thinking up my PC builds.

No ideas on how go do something like this? Or did i hit it on the nail head.

Performance feats are a thing you could look into, but I've never really seen them in play, so YMMV.

Other than that, my group has a descriptive combat houserule in place. Basically, if you describe what you're doing in combat, you get a small bonus to attack or damage. It helps encourage rp in combat and helps the combats be a little more entertaining. So you could try pitching something like that.

Performance Combat, primarily intended for arena or colosseum style combat. Here's the feat that lets you use it in all combats, here's the feats you can utilize with it.

Thanks

Note that Dazzling Display (a pre-requisite for Performing Combatant and most performance feats) is a pretty good feat on its own and can give you a bit of the same feeling of "wowing" your enemies even if you don't want to spend feats on performance combat.

If you have feats to spare, Intimidating Prowess or Skill Focus (Intimidate) make you more effective with Dazzling Display and the Hero's Display performance feat.

Maybe don't say "I attack with my sword," but rather say something more like "as he swings his horizontally at my chest, I step back, tossing my own sword over the arc of his swing while dropping my hand under it. I then catch my sword again and stab him in his briefly exposed ribs."

This seems to be more of a roleplay issue than a mechanical issue (but, hey, that doesn't mean we can't find you some cool mechanics to take it even further). :D

Thanks guys
