Liberty's Edge

D:OS2 is nearly here and I am hugely excited for it.

The first game wasn't perfect, but as I said in another thread, it was the best depiction of tabletop-style turn based combat that I can remember in a video game.

Added to that the great visuals and story, deep mechanics and variety of enemies and locations AND co-op, then I am massively excited for the sequel where it takes all these things and seemingly just amps them up.

There is also the GM mode to play with that is just the cherry on the cake.

I wish they'd let us have the final confrontation with Damian already.

But yes, looking forward to it.

Didn't play the original, new one looks pretty good. Anyone here playing it? Anyone doing a custom campaign using GM mode?

just started, it seems like the first game with a better story

Will be getting this soon, loved the first one, played through with a friend in CA (co-op baby!) it was well worth it.

Even if we sort of....face punched our way through....we really should have invested a bit more in the social skills...

Live and learn...unless your were our foes that is ;P

Its pretty fun. Undead are a little on the overpowered side.

I hate when the skele-bombs explode (on the party, on their friends is fine!)

I just beat the first one. (Enhanced Edition on the PS4)

I'd be up for playing this if it ever lands on a console. I'm sadly without a computer to use for games.

How was the game play on PS4 anyway Wraith?

Very good.

Mechanically speaking, the game was very good.

According to a guide I read, they did make some changes to skills and some enemies in the game.

I don't normally use guides but this one definitely needed it. Some quest milestones seemed arbitrary or others seemed liked they were missing updates, but these were also a problem in the computer game from what I read. Forcing you to use stealth to advance was another thing that caught me off guard.

Aiming skills wasn't much of an issue unless I was trying to do something really tough.

Controls were solid but inventory management and crafting can take awhile. I basically ignored crafting as much as I could and my inventory ballooned to a huge size. Those scrolls came in handy though in the final boss fight.

Accountant

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Currently finishing up my first playthrough with some friends from CA and this game is a very very good follow-up on the stage that was set with D:OS 1.

Multiplayer - awesome. Very convenient being able to come and go as schedules dictate, even if the original save is only on the host's computer.

Skills - some minor griefs about certain abilities being way too overpowered (looking at you, summoning and warfare) but overall there are lots of different ways to build your character to varying degrees of success.

Gameplay - 10/10. I love a game that you actually have to run around town and talk to every npc to figure out all the things you can accomplish, instead of every quest giver having a dumb ? or ! over their heads. Also very much enjoy the lore added to the game through acquiring books and letters left behind and then reading them to gain knowledge about a quest you're on or an upcoming enemy you are tracking down.

This game has been (for me at least) the best successor to the original Baldur's Gate games that I grew up on. Would highly recommend this to anyone who loves adventure RPG style games.
