I have someone wanting to pay for my subs for August as a gift and want to know if the gift certificate can do this, or should I just get them to pay directly?
Also if they do the gift cert can they just add it to my account?

I am not a Paizo employee, but speaking from experience: Yes and yes.
When they purchase the gift certificate they should use the option to specify your paizo.com avatar name as the recipient. This will result in you receiving an email notifying you of the gift.
The gift certificate will be redeemed for store credit. What you need to do is check that your subscription is set to use store credit when it is available. Under the payment section of your subscription, you should see text indicating the setting and a button to change the setting. As long as it is set correctly, your subscription will use any available store credit you have.

Hawkmoon269 is correct all around. They can also purchase the gift certificate without attaching it to your account and then print out or email it to you (or just give you the claim code). If the other person has trouble getting the gift certificate to you, or you have trouble applying it to your subscriptions please let us know.
