The pre-order keeps saying sometime in July. But in the blogs they are saying release will be Aug 17th at gen-con. I pre-ordered off amazon. Will Amazon ship my book on Aug 17th? And if not when will it ship? There is much confusion on when the books will ship.

What do you mean by "keeps saying sometime in July"? Everything Paizo has said has been August 17th, and Amazon (as of right now) says the same thing.
Personally, I would expect Amazon to be slightly slower in getting you the book than Paizo would be, but your mileage may vary.
Amazon may get it later. From the Paizo site they may ship the order to you so you get it around August 17th.

I can understand where the confusion comes from. At this moment in time, my Starfinder subscription here on Paizo's site says "Expected to ship late July or early August 2017", so vague shipping dates may be percolating throughout the internet's automated systems.
But yeah, like everyone says, it should land on your doorstep on or slightly after August 17th.

Amazon tends to ship things just before the release date so that they arrive on the release date.
Paizo is going to start shipping orders to those who preordered on July 30, so it's possible that some people who preordered from Paizo and paid for fast shipping might have their book about 2 weeks before Aug 17.
