Some inquiring minds will want to know for the SFS play aspect of what deities are 'legit' and which ones are 'not', and that could be a very frustrating/disturbing thing if folks are told 'no, you can't play a character that followed X deity (from Pathfinder) but you can play this Y deity that's nice New Coke. You like New Coke, don't you?'
ie, which deities will be allowed in SFS? The Core 20? Any PFS-legal deity? Not all Core 20?
This comes up in particular as certain deities that had a broad appeal in PFS (Asmodeus, Shelyn, Cayden Cailean, Irori, etc) seem to be notably absent from The Core 20.
Thank you very much for your time in advance!

Subject to change in final print of the guide: characters can choose to venerate or worship any deity listed in the Core Rulebook. There's currently one printed exception to this: the previously previewed Priest character theme . The priest has a slightly tighter set of restrictions (only getting access to 18 out of the 20).
Usual caveat on picking truly evil deities: just because you can pick from the available deities, doesn't mean you can choose to "be a jerk" just because "that's what my deity would do".
