Arcanists and Metamagic

Rules Questions

If an Arcanist uses a Metamagic Rod or Sacred Geometry, are they treated as a Spontaneous Caster or a Prepared one- would he increase the time spent casting like a Sorcerer would?

For actually casting spells the Arcanist is a spontaneous caster.

But does it increase the casting time for Sacred Geometry? It only mentions Bards and Sorcerers- if a Cleric or Druid applies it to a spell they cast spontaneously, do they increase the casting time as well?

It would because you can't pre-prepare it into a higher slot for Sacred Geomatry.

Never use me.

Why bother specifying that this only happens for Bards and Sorcerers when there are plenty of other spontaneous casters?

Because at the time it was written Arcanists didn't exist yet and going back to change the text in all previous works every time a new class is published would be insanely impractical and expensive,

Occult Mysteries (the book that Sacred Geometry is in) - June 10th, 2014

Advanced Class Guide (the book that Arcanist is in) - August 6th, 2014

Okay, the Arcanist didn't come out for two months after the printing of this book. However...

Advanced Player's Guide was released in August 2010, four years prior to the release of Sacred Geometry. It contained the Oracle and the Summoner, both of which are spontaneous casters and both of which had been using spontaneous caster rules for years before Occult Mysteries was even announced.

Really, there's no excuse for this sloppy writing.

And therefore fell under the rules for spontaneous casters which had already been set forth. The rules mention the exceptions because they are exceptions, if it's not called out specifically then use the general rule.
