Make a Monkey out of me: Suggestions for a Vanara PC?

Hey everyone! So, I got lucky and got a Vanara boon from Origins! WOOT! I'm super excited to build something, but I'm kinda torn on what to do.

At first, I wanted to build Rafiki and do something different (I usually like being a front line fighter) by building a shaman that would assist and buff the party. But after looking at the Shaman, while it's on flavor I feel the class is really underwhelming for doing the whole buffing thing I'd go for with Rafiki.

The other idea was to go for a Gokuesque or Rwby's Sun character and go unchained monk. (I had originally gotten excited at doing rafiki as a sensei monk until I realized you can't combine unchained with the archtypes.)

SOooo... Help me make this monkey? Any suggestions on class combos and character concepts I could use? I'm just kinda stuck on a fun, effective build for this character. I'm not looking for optimization, just not being a drag on the party.

I went with a Hunter (Feral Hunter) for mine. Looks like it is going to work out very cool. I plan on having him talk like Caesar from the new Planet of the Apes series. I chose Expeditious Excavation as one of my 2 first level spells in order to pull pranks. Having read the culture of Vanara's I decided he would easily take offense at anyone who doesn't call him by his proper name to help reflect his 5 Charisma. He will also have a tendency to mock people. I plan on going full Andy Serkis with him for role-playing. Or at least as much as the table will put up with. I really want to re-play Mists of Mwangi with this guy.

I made mine into a bolt ace, but have had a hard time coming up with anything beyond that.

Finally got around to making art for her, and she kept coming up looking really pissed off and vengeful looking. So I'm working on that angle now.

Still trying to decide on fur color.

I thought a Vanara was the current GM boon, so there should be no luck involved - if you GM at a convention, you'll get the boon

My wife and I, and a third friend, are considering making Cursed Oracles.

Huh, I was instructed to roll a die to see "Which one I got" so maybe there where multiple GM boons I could get? Or maybe the guy was just messing with me, I would not be surprised with our origins crew, bunch of pranksters.

Scarab Sages

They have great stats for monks, gunslingers, and wisdom casters.

Monk, Cleric, Druid, Inquisitor, Hunter are all golden. If you wanted to play a buffer, Sensei Monk could be great.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned ranger. It's another class that would benefit from the vanara stats.

I expect to get a vanara boon for GMing at a local con in a couple of weeks, and I haven't even started to think of what to do with it. I've done wisdom based divine casters to death, so I don't want another cleric, inquisitor, druid, warpriest, or hunter.

On the other hand, I've never done a monk, ranger, or gunslinger, so those might be possibilities. Actually, ranger and monk are the only Core Rulebook classes I haven't already played in PFS. I really don't want another dedicated archer, though, since I already have a couple of those, so the obvious archery focused ranger or zen archer is out, too.

I actually don't know very much about monks or gunslingers, so this might be a good time to learn more about them. Gunslingers have never really appealed to me, though. So maybe I'll look into monks and see what I think.

I also already have Blood of the Beast, so I'll have to see what's in the vanara section of that. I've mostly focused on the grippli chapter so far.

Monk is an excellent and potentially fun choice for a Vanara. Especially if you want to play up the stereotype and go Monkey Style.

Use that bonus to Climb and make a Vexing Dodger Unchained Rogue.

Be adopted by halflings, grab the Intrepid Volunteer trait, use Dex for climbing?

I'm going for Monk/Rogue, both Unchained. If I'm not mistaken, he should be able to take vanishing ninja trick as a rogue talent once he has ki pool from monk levels. I'm not sure, however, whether I'm planning to take fifth rogue level or not, since I'm not sure about the rogue's edge and skill unlock.

It might be worth waiting until November for Ultimate Wilderness, since it will have a lot of nature/animal themed things.

Is there an Unchained Rogue Talent for Ninja Trick?

Yes, but its hard for an unchained rogue to get a ki pool.

The ninja climbing tricks are.. bad. They're not useful anywhere you'd need them.
