Advice for Bone Fist spell on our polearm fighter

Advice

Looking for some advice on how our team polearm fighter can benefit from me casting Bone Fist on him? is it worth the spell slot? How do the armor spikes benefit him?

It allows him to attack targets adjacent to him as well as dealing damage to anything that grapples him. It is worth the spell slots only if your team has no natural armor and have multiple units. You want to have at least 5 to 10 people in your group with natural attack builds, polearm, range attacks or they are casters. Normally low level spell casters can't threaten their reach because they are unarmed. Rod and staff are expensive. So it would help you put pressure on enemies. After all, every point counts in combat. One hit point means they can still do damage, which you don't want.

However, if your team is in small number and you have good melee classes like paladin, ranger, rogue. Then don't bother, get haste of something instead. Dodge bonus stacks, it goes to reflex save too. Extra attack and movement speed. Much better choice because everyone benefit from it.

Hmm, our group consists of a wizard, a reach druid, a polearm fighter and a rogue.

Not enough units to warrant Bone Fist. Get him to buy spike gauntlets or armor spikes instead. With your team, I imagine your wizard would try to move out of combat to cast spell. Druid would have to be flexible, can't go into combat too often since he is the only healer in the group. He needs to keep people from dying. His companion would benefit from an extra attack from full round attack more than the extra damage. Rogue doesn't need Bone Fist, Haste would give him more. For the polearm fighter, it's benefit him more to just buy spikes so he can get spike and haste. Even if you can't afford the spike, I would still pick haste for the extra attack over Bone Fist.
