PFS legal way to use Bluff in place of Diplomacy

Silver Crusade 4/5 *

Hey people, as the title says I'm looking for a PFS legal way to use bluff in place of diplomacy. The only restriction is I need to get the ability without it being a class ability as my character cannot afford even a single level dip.

Thanks in advance!

What is your character?

Bards substituting one skill or another is the only way i know how to replace one skill for another completely.

Unchained Summoner Aasimar. I want him to be Exchange but way more gets done on their faction card with diplomacy.

Grand Lodge 2/5

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the only way to completely replace one skill with another is using specific class options such as the bard's versatile performance or the Asmodean Advocate's Devil in the Details ability.

Why not just take some traits to get both bluff and diplomacy as class skills and advance them both?

I've got a bunch of diplomacy characters and don't have a lot of skill points. I'm bored with diplomacy and want to lie a bunch with this character.

Are you skipping Profession(merchant)? There is only one faction goal that needs Diplomacy (or Profession(merchant)). Bluff is also only useful for one goal. Intimidate is more valuable (2 goals).

Where are you putting your skills?

Perhapse max out your Eidolon's Diplomacy and use it instead?

Silver Crusade 4/5 *

Well, with a Wisdom of 10 my character isn't gonna be great at Profession skills and I was hoping to kill 2 birds with one stone. And the faction card I have access to is season 7. Using the Eidolon is a good idea but can they speak? I can't find it in the class info.

As for my skills I'm taking Linguistics, Spellcraft and preferably Bluff.

Grand Lodge 2/5

We're in season 8 currently. You'll need to use the most recent faction card. Though any benefits you acheive on the season 8 one will carry over into season 9 I believe.

I have DM credit from the appropriate season on the 7 card, I can continue to use it.

You can get a season 8 card to fill out as well.

Just drop a point in Profession early and attempt the rolls every scenario. You can always drop a prestige point to succeed without a roll if you need to.

Grand Lodge 2/5

Ah my bad, I had the impression that it was a blank card for this new character.

Silver Crusade 4/5 *

Yeah, I have enough GM credit that I don't start characters before level 3 generally (this guy will be 3). I do keep impeccable logs however. I like having access to any year's faction card I want.

How does the prestige point thing work, I've not heard about that.

You can spend 1 prestige for a bonus to the check.

You should read the latest version of the Faction Card rules.

Quote:
Some faction goals require a successful skill check commonly associated with that faction; however, every faction agent has a different skill set, and not all agents can accomplish those tasks unaided. In place of attempting a goal’s skill check, you can instead spend 1 Prestige Point to succeed through other channels (2 Prestige Points if the DC is 20 plus your character level or higher).

Silver Crusade 4/5 *

Huh, guess I never really took notice of that. Not something I would normally spend prestige on but if I need to i guess it's there.

EDIT - This was to the +4 bonus response. I can't believe that I missed that on this year's faction cards.

Hey, if four or five prestige can get you back that feat or trait or whatever you were going to spend, it's worth it.

Yeah, this totally solves my issue. Thanks very much, now I don't need to worry about it at all.

Why are you maxing out Spellcraft on a Summoner?

To identify items... We're always short on spellcasters with it around here it feels like. Also not sure what else I would take.

A wand of Identify and 1 rank will last you your entire career.

From a roleplay perspective it makes perfect sense for a Summoner to have ranks in spellcraft as it represents knowledge of spellcasting and magic.

Plus unlike Identify you can use it to identify spells as they're being cast

I would rather spend skill points on a character that doesn't have that many great skill choices than spend gold or prestige on the same character who will be strapped HARD for money. Spellcraft is free.

And a wand is only good for 50 magic items... it only gives you one check per charge (CL 1 from a wand). 50 sounds like a lot, until you start actually using it. Running thru 10 charges in a single scenario isn't that unusual.
