May he rest peacefully.

I'm sad to see him go.

Another great actor leaves us, and the World is diminished by his passing. :(

"I'm the fourth best James Bond" "I do all my own stunts, I also do all my own lying" -Moore

He had a great wit and sense of humor.

It's probably because I grew up during that era, and the first few James Bond movies I saw starred Roger Moore, but I always regarded him as the definitive Bond. (And I suppose that playing the role in SEVEN films helped in that regard.)

Moore was my favorite Bond. He had charm and wit and a tongue-in-cheek sensibility the movies needed, unlike Connery.

Sad news, another great actor leaves us, he will be missed.

He will be deeply missed. He was truly a great Bond and one of my all time favorites.

I hope that God welcomes him with an Astin Martin and a martini.

Moore was the best. For Your Eyes Only is still my favorite Bond film, and the duo of Moonraker and The Spy Who Loved Me gave us the ultimate foil to the ultimate late 70's spy in Jaws (d.2014). The fact that he only has 9 film credits post A View to a Kill is a loss for the movie going public.

As I posted on facebook this morning, here's a bit from The Spy who Loved Me's Theme "Nobody Does It Better":

"Nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest
Nobody does it half as good as you
Baby, you're the best."

I'm not a fan of the Roger Moore era of Bond. That being said FOR YOUR EYES ONLY is one of my favorite Bond movies EVER. As a kid I kinda liked MOONRAKER (Space! LASERS!!!, JAWS!!!) and THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (Underwater base!!! Lotus Europa!!!) but FOR YOUR EYES ONLY was lo-fi Bond at it's best. He's ALMOST not even the main character, it's like he stumbles into Malina's revenge story and is half helping her and half trying to accomplish his mission.

Also? pretty great Ski Stunt work and Lynn Holly Johnson!

Still, he was a solid Bond even if a lot of the movies around him weren't very good. He'll be missed.

Moore's Bond films were campy, but he handled them perfectly. He was apparently also a mensch in person, per this story from Marc Haynes.

Well he was 57 when he made A View to a Kill. He decided to stop doing Bond films when he found out he was actually older than his costar's mother.

I guess Father Time was the one evil mastermind even James Bond couldn't beat.

Fare thee well, 007, and thanks for the movies.

I hope I will be forgiven if I say that his favorite role to me will always be the one from Cannonball Run

Came here to link to that story, but since it's already been done, I'll instead mention my favourite memory of him, which is him gamely attempting to pronounce his own name in Swedish for a radio-show Britt Ekland hosted and managing to make 30 entertaining seconds of it.

RIP Roger Moore. My top Bond.

My favourite Bond movie is Live and Let Die. Written for Connery but played oh so much better by Moore in the role.

Sad to see him go. My all-time favorite Bond movie is Man with the Golden Gun, and considering that Lee died few years ago and Clifton James (J.W Pepper!) died earlier this year....yeah, this movie is just a become harder to watch. He was also a great humanitarian, so he was a hero both on screen and in real life.

You are not the only one. OTOH The Saint was a good series. It has been ages since I watched it.

I never saw The Saint. From what I have been reading, he played his Bond character very similar to Simon Templer.

Hulu has The Saint on it right now.
