Sneak Attack and Flanking Ruling

Rules Questions

Both Read as Written and Read as Intended, creatures immune to flanking are completely exempt from any advantages or effects regarding or incurred by flanking correct?

I have someone saying all the immunity confers is that you don't get a +2 to being in a flanking position against such a creature but you can still do any flanking-reliant abilities such as sneak attack if you and an ally are still correctly in what would be otherwise considered flanking positions.

Silver Crusade

You are correct, if they are immune to flank then they are immune to all the rider abilities of being flanked.

Yes, they would be exempt from being sneak attacked through flanking, although they could still be feinted or taken by surprise.

From the Core book:

"The rogue's attack deals extra damage anytime her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the rogue flanks her target"

A flanking-immune creature can't be sneak attacked via a flanking-trigger, since they' can't be flanked. However they can still be sneak attacked if they're denied their Dex bonus to AC (eg, caught flat footed, helpless, etc).

This is correct, although in practice many flank-immune creatures are also immune to precision damage.

Rogues, barbarians, and anyone else with Improved Uncanny Dodge comes to mind.

There is also at least one feat chain that renders the user immune to flanking.
