Chronicle question

Running a Small character. Got a Chronicle with a Large weapon on it. Can I buy a medium version (still oversized) or is the idea that Small characters are not intended to be able to use such an item even if it appears on their chronicle sheet?

Chronicle says large, not medium. It's large.

If a chronicle doesn't specify a size, you can buy it as either small or medium, your choice.

If it specifies a size, it only gives you access to it at the specified size. You can't buy it at a different size any more than you can buy it made from a different material.

You could use it by dropping it, enlarging yourself, then picking up the Large weapon as a Medium creature (still oversized).

Otherwise, some items just aren't meant for all characters. The Fighters won't get much from the Pearls of Power on their chronicle sheets either.

I have a fighter and I want power. My chronicle reads Pearl of Power, are you saying I can't use it to cast spells?
