Bull Rush / Drag / Reposition vs a creature in grapple

Rules Questions

Can you use Bull Rush, Drag or Reposition maneuvers against an opponent that is in grapple with a third creature? If yes, how does they affect that third creature, that is in grapple with the target of your maneuver?

Yes.

I found a number of threads discussing this and it seems what they agree on is that the rules do not cover this, RAW nor RAI, not even a little. :-(

If you're a player, consult your GM. If you're a GM, um... good luck?

I'd have it force another grapple check to maintain as they're pulled away from their prey (with no riders allowed like constrict) . if they succeed you're going with them.

Ya, we had to table rule this extensively at our PFS games.

Trying to stick to RAW; we said grapple has a specific set of limitations but preventing someone from being bullrushed is not included in those limitations. So we said if your bull rush beats the target, it moves them as normal and the grapple is broken.

But that can be super gamed to bull rush your own wizard out of a grapple, so maybe use the higher of the two CMDs. This has some neat interactions, cause this means the target being grappled can bull rush the enemy grappling them away to escape a grapple.

Again, all house rules.
