Kinetic Fist + Gusting Infusion vs Swarms

Can a Kinetic Fist with Gusting Infusion hit/activate the Gust of Wind effect when used on a swarm?

For context, I have a low-level Air Kineticist, Elemental Ascetic, who can only use Kinetic Fist Form infusion. If I use Gusting Infusion with Kinetic Fist, does attempting to strike the swarm activate the Gust of Wind Effect (assuming it fails the Fort save)? Or could my character punch the air or ground in front of the swarm to activate the Gust of Wind?

I believe a Kinetic Fist with Gusting Infusion would active the Gust of Wind effect when you attack the swarm.

However, the swarm would likely need to be pretty sizeable for it not to be "killed" from the minimum 2d6 + con damage that you would be doing.

Would you be able to punch the air and reproduce the Gust of Wind effect in an area?

Thanks for the responses! And that's a nifty idea- could I simply punch the air to avoid having to roll vs the swarm's AC?

I guess more accurately you would be attacking a square vs attacking the swarm.
