Kitsune Bard advice

Advice

Hello for an upcoming DMPC, I've decided to make a bard. Because it's a DMPC, it's mostly going to be used for combat support and storytelling purposes- but I've never actually made a bard before.Mechanically, this is what I have so far.

Treival No-Name:

10Str/18Dex/13Int/13Wis/19Cha

Vanilla Bard

Feats: Magical Tail, Spell Song

Desna's Shooting Star (replacing his Versatile Performance)

Also has the alternate racial talent giving him Fox Shape as a free feat.

Being a Kitsune court bard will make your charm spells INCREDIBLY hard to resist. 10base+5Cha+1spell level+1kitsune bounus+1spell focus+1performanc for a total of DC19 at 1st level on enchantment spells, more if you spend a turn to intimidated the enemy.

If you are focusing on combat support lingering performance will be really helpful. You also may want to focus on support spells like saving finale and timely/ gallant inspiration.

Swapped out Spell Song for Lingering, I had forgotten about that feat. Has a +9(1d4+4) for damage, either at a 20ft range or melee. I like the flavor of the Fox shape and multiple tails, when does it get good? He'll grow another tail naturally at level 6 due to the FCB.

EDIT: I also gave him Profession (storyteller) as a sort of way to justify him knowing things he shouldn't, sort of a way to roll for genre savvy.

Your NPC has no con. Also bards aren't proficient with star knives.
Lingering performance is good, and in a way that won't steal focus from the party.
Combat advice and Battle Cry (the advanced class guide version) are both decent support abilities.

Oh, right. 15 Con, and used a trait that's ordinarily exlusive to humans (house ruled it, because Tattoos have no reason to be human exclusive) to get the proficiency.

Can be a bit hard to tattoo a furred creature. But, the trait has more to do with being a native of Varisia than being human. That's something you can easily add into the GMPC's backstory. Or just ignore it and use its mechanical goodness.

Very nice stats. Nothing lower than a 12 before racials.

As to your question of when magical tail gets good: it kind of never does. It's not an especially strong feat-line. It's not bad, per say, and it can save you spell slots if the tail spells are ones you'd cast anyway. Some of them can be harder to use, though. Misdirection isn't particularly useful most of the time, unless you know you're doing something where your alignment will be checked.
It is great flavor, though. Plus, it's a GMPC. The whole purpose is, typically, to help the PCs to excel, not to do things for them.

It's a bard. Bardic knowledge is plenty of justification for knowing things. But, if you want to add a skill to justify it further, might I suggest Perform: Oratory? It'll mesh better with your bardliness and covers a similar thematic ground.
