After 2 adventures my rogue has 600 gold (spent some already on easy choices) and I currently find myself unsure if and on what I should spend some of it... the options that come to mind are a Masterwork Wakizashi (my rogue is a tengu and dual wields) for 335 gold, save as much gold as I can for Lamellar (Leather) armor made of darkleaf cloth for 810 gold (currently in normal studded leather) or hold out for magic armor or magic protection devices, or possibly alchemical weapons (alchemists fire, tangle foot bags, etc). any other options suggested would also be appreciated...

Seconding the Wolf, get a masterwork weapon as soon as possible. You will most likely want to get a mithral shirt for armor, so don't bother buying anything else until then. Get two alchemist's fires, two acid flasks, and two holy waters: those will likely get you through your early levels unless you get unlucky and run into a lot of swarms. Don't bother with tanglefoot bags: they're too situational to be useful.

out of curiosity, Why a Mithril Chain shirt instead of the Darkleaf Lamellar armor?

Darkleaf lamellar: 810 gp, AC +4, Max Dex +5, ACP 0, weight 12.5 lbs.
Mithral shirt: 1100 gp, AC +4, Max Dex +6, ACP 0, weight 10 lbs.You save 2.5 lbs of weight and gain another point of max Dex. For me, that's worth the extra cost.

For super early on:
Armor: leather or studded leather
Weapon: club, dagger, whatever (something cheap, but as Merisiel shows us there is no such thing as too many daggers for a Rogue)
Miscellaneous: clothes, backpack, food/water, rope, something to sleep on, something for light sources, probably something I'm forgetting and whatever splash weapons you can afford after the rest of that
Once you have a chronicle or two:
Weapon: masterwork sap, possibly a mithral dagger from prestige (an item I favor for a lot of my characters), possibly a masterwork cold iron weapon, ranged weapon
Tools: masterwork thieves' tools
Wands: Wand of Cure Light Wounds (from prestige, before the dagger)
Early levels, but with gold now:
Armor: mithral chain shirt or mithral kikko armor, possibly a buckler depending on how you fight
Weapon: adamantine weapon, +1 enhancement on something
Wondrous Items: Eyes of the Eagle (or some equivalent - this assumes that you are taking the party role of trap spotter. To do so dependably, you can't rely on just skill ranks and the trapfinding feature. It won't be enough when it is important)
Things I hate from players at any level and from any class: not having a light source, not having rope, and not having some contribution to party healing after they have 1-2 chronicles under their belt.
Side note: I see far too many players making halfling and gnome rogues that only have 20' base move speed. Then they try to tumble around enemies at full speed because half speed isn't enough to get them to where they are going. They aren't nearly as good at Acrobatics as they think they are, they get whacked by the bad guy in response and (frequently) need to be rescued. Speed is IMPORTANT for Rogues. Don't neglect it. (Halflings can have 30' move speed from a ARG racial trait)
