D&D Beyond

Technology

So Wizards of the Coast just announced D&D Beyond. An official app with character creation and gameplay database that you can access through Curse on any device.

It looks really exciting, and as someone who plays both D&D and Pathfinder, I'm wondering if Paizo will follow suit.
The system is a lot more complicated in Pathfinder since there's so many variables but I would love this being made.

What do you guys think? Would Paizo be interested in making something like this?

Sovereign Court

Once upon a time there was a VTT in the works by Paizo.....

I think they let folks like Hero Lab tackle this kind of thing these days.

...Beyond what?

The Exchange

Is there going to be an ongoing subscription for this? If so I pass.

Sovereign Court

They said, "you can get it all with a subscription but you can also buy it piecemeal if you want.....but it aint microtransactions." so nobody really knows.

Damn. I just googled any updates on this and ended up in my own post.

Liberty's Edge

Updates on what?
D&D Beyond, of if Paizo will do something similar?

Either if Paizo was planning on doing something similar or if there was any similar upcoming products.

Just as long as it isn't like HeroLabOnline...

Partly why I'm looking for alternatives.

The premise of HLO was cool, but I don't like what I've seen so far.

and TBH, Herolab Classic feels like a program made in the late 90s/early 2000s.
It needs to be an app or a software that works more like character creation would inside a videogame.

Pathfinder Lost Omens Subscriber

Any program that is going to gain and more importantly keep my support is going to be a non-subscription based model that is viable off-line.

Right now there are scarce few that meet these criteria.

Apps do me zero good if they require an internet connection to function at all.

Tying a subscription to such a thing makes it worse.

Please note, I do have a tower at home. I just can't account for something I can't use ' in the field'.

Pathbuilder may be the thing for you then.

I spoke to the developer a few months back, and he was looking at including cross character interaction like HLO is doing. But I haven't heard from him in a while so I don't know what's happening there.

And I agree with you on the subscription fee. I spend way too many hiatus months where we never get together to be paying for something I'm not using.
I've already cancelled my Roll20 premium and my Syrinscape.
