Feral Hunter Archetype - Feral Focus

Rules Questions

I apologize if there is an FAQ for this, but I couldn't find one and previous threads couldn't reach consensus and further confused me.

Feral Focus:
At 1st level, a feral hunter gains a limited ability to change her shape into hybrid animal forms. This functions as the animal focus class feature, except that the hunter always applies the animal aspect to herself, and there is no limit to this ability’s duration. She can end this ability as a free action.

When a feral hunter uses this ability, her body takes on cosmetic aspects of an animal, such as furry skin, longer nails, elongated teeth, and oddly colored eyes; these changes do not grant her any abilities other than what is stated in the animal focus, and end when she takes on a different aspect or ends the ability. This physical change is a polymorph effect, though the effects of the animal focus are not.

This ability alters animal focus and replaces the hunter tactics and speak with master class abilities.

My main confusion stems from the fact that it uses the word 'alters' instead of 'replaces' for animal focus.

With Feral Focus, do I have both a permanent and a per-minute ability? Or just a permanent and no per-minute ability?

And as an extension, with Second Focus, would I have two permanent foci, two permanent and two per-minute foci, or one permanent and two per-minute foci?

Thanks for any help!

Just the permanent focus.

"Alters" means that you get the "animal focus" ability but it functions slightly differently as described in the archetype.

In this case, that you can only apply it to yourself and that there is an unlimited duration. Second focus gives you two foci with unlimited duration.

You don't get a second version of the ability.

Great, thank you. I feel they should have left out the part about only targeting yourself though. The only other thing ever affected was the animal companion that got the permanent focus while the player got minutes. And you don't get the animal companion so that's just extra text that leads to weird possible interpretations.
