I'm in the process of making a Leshy Warden and trying to figure out which type of Leshy I want as a familiar. I think I've settled on the Leaf Leshy, but I noticed something odd:
Melee shortspear +2 (1d4-2/19-20)

Base Atk +0; CMB -3; CMD 8
Feats Weapon Finesse
So, their BAB is +0. Their str mod is -2 and their dex mod is +1. Size mod is +1.
Shortspear (with str) should be -1. Shortspear (with dex) would be +2. How are they using dex with their shortspear? Weapon Finesse is for a "With a light weapon, elven curve blade, rapier, whip, or spiked chain made for a creature of your size category", which a shortspear does not qualify.
So what am I missing? Or is it one of those things that isn't on d20pfsrd, but is in the source?

The designer probably thought shortspears were light not one handed weapons.
The leaf leshy isn't wielding a shortspear. Look at the crit range. 19-20. Shortpears on have a crit range of 20.
It appears they are supposed to be wielding a short sword (which does match the stats given, the only weapon in the core rulebook to do so), but someone changed it to shortspear. Or it was always meant to use the shortspear, but someone mistakenly used the stats fora short sword.

Whoa. That's a great catch!
My guess then is that it would be a little wooden short sword, since the description says that it fashions its own weapon from available materials (and none of the materials mentioned are metal). Otherwise, it's a special Leaf Leshy Shortspear that is treated in all ways like a short sword, except it's a spear.
