Riving strike and Cornugon Smash

Rules Questions

Hello everybody,

I have read on various post that cornugon smash works on riving strike, but should it really does ?

raw:

Quote:

riving strike

When you infuse your weapon with arcane might, your attacks make foes more susceptible to magic.

Prerequisite(s): Arcane Strike, ability to cast arcane spells.

Benefit: If you have a weapon that is augmented by your Arcane Strike feat, when you damage a creature with an attack made with that weapon, that creature takes a –2 penalty on saving throws against spells and spell-like abilities. This effect lasts for 1 round.

Quote:

cornugon smash

Prerequisites: Power Attack, Intimidate 6 ranks.

Benefit: When you damage an opponent with a Power Attack, you may make an immediate Intimidate check as a free action to attempt to demoralize your opponent.

Cornugon smash isn't a spell or spell-like abilities so it shouldn't works isn't it ?

You can use Arcane Strike and Power Attack on the same attack, thus gaining the benefits of both Riving Strike and Cornugon Smash. However, Cornugon Smash doesn't gain any benefit from Riving Strike.

Ok so riving strike isn't really usefull on an intimidating build unlike i saw a lot. Thx Red Metal

Shadow Lodge

It's useful for setting your party casters with a softened target

A shaken target does, however, take a penalty on saving throws, so Riving Strike + Cornugon Smash can give the target a -4 to saves against spells/spell-like abilities.

Basically, combining these feats allows your martial to be extremely useful as a debuffer by hitting the opponent in the head until they are knocked to stupid to think to save against spells.
