High level outsider progression

Advice and Rules Questions

Hi all, so really i have two questions regarding outsiders.

First I was wondering if there is any rhyme or reason to the spell like abilities that outsiders get: how many total, how many constant, how many at will, how many 3/day, etc. Also what level spell can occupy any of those x/day categories. Really I am just trying to determine if this is all thematic and more or less picked with experience/loose guidelines or if there are firm progression rules somewhere.

Second I was wondering how you would determine how much natural armor an outsider of any given HD would have. Or if it has nothing to do with HD of the specific kind of outsider or nothing to do with being an outsider at all. Specifically I am looking at why demons have the natural armor bonuses they do.

If there is some easy website or sheet that has all of this then I'm sorry for wasting everyone's time; i just haven't found anything with this information specifically.

Thanks

There are no specific rules for advancing Outsiders, really, but the Monster Advancement rules give general guidelines for how to advance creatures.

Natural Armor is a good way of making a creature inherently tougher without conflicting with other stuff they might use, like actual armor, spells, and so on. It's also much, much harder for players to get rid of, which is usually a good thing. XD Monster design is more art than science, really.
