I've been away for about 18 months, and important changes I need catching up on?

Haven't played a session since around August of 2015, but I got the itch recently, so I signed up for a session. Any important changes I might not be aware of?

Classes banned?

Allowed/disallowed races? (I know about tieflings/aasimar)

Previously common items that were banned?

The Ultimate Equipment errata had a bunch of changes. The changes to the Jingasa of the Fortunate Soldier were very unpopular.

Classes - I can't think of anything banned that was previously allowed. For new sources, check Additional Resources as usual.

Races - Add ifrit, oread, sylph and undine.

Items - More revised or reinterpreted than banned. You may be aware there are now Campaign Clarifications.

edit: Some previous restrictions have been relaxed, due to new rulings and errata removing past objections.

I'm still trying to remember how to navigate the site. Care to elaborate on the changes or link me to the additional resources?

It won't help that the site navigation has changed to some degree.

The Advanced Race Guide errata happened right around that time (7/29/2015). So you might have missed it as well. There were some fairly big changes as a result of that, including the change to the elf and Aasimars favored class bonuses from Oracle. From your thread in the Advice board, it looks like you have an Aasimars Life Oracle. Favored class changed from +1/2 effective level to a revelation, to instead be +1/6 effective level. It was a big hit to a lot of builds.

I remember your name and I think we even played a lot of PFS at the same location.

And yes, thankfully I use HeroLab so those kinds of changes were automatically entered for me.

Yeah, I recognize who you are. It's not looking like I'll be there tomorrow, but it's good to have you back for a game or more.

I'm also glad you knew about the favored class bonus. I was afraid of delivering bad news.

The biggest thing that Herolab might not cover is the Campaign Clarifications document mentioned earlier in the thread. Basically, PFS started addressing corrections that are unlikely to ever get a full official FAQ, because they are in player companions and books like that. EDIT: sorry, the Jingasa change was in the ultimate equipment FAQ like mentioned above. The Potion Glutton change started in Campaign Clarifications, and as of yesterday made it into the Golarion FAQ. There are lots of little clarifications. Lots of good ones, and a few big ones that hit some often used abilities.

So the change to the Jingasa is in what type of armor bonus it gives? So that means it will be less likely to stack with other armor bonuses I suppose. I think I only had it on one character (my level 12 inquisitor) so it won't be hit me too hard.

Also, the jingasa's ability to negate a critical or sneak attack is now one use only, not once per day

Scarab Sages 4/5

They also changed the crit negating ability of the Jungasa from once/day to once ever. So if that's why someone was buying it, it becomes a 5,000 gold expendable. Mainly it's the Fate's Favored Inquisitors, Clerics, Oracles, Warpriests, and half-orcs that were affected the most, since they were getting +2 from it instead of +1. You can sell it back for full price, though. I just swapped it for a Dusty Rose Prism Ioun stone (+1 insight bonus to AC) since I didn't have one already.

I don't see any of the campaign clarifications that have been issued as completely negating a large number of builds. They're mostly finding loopholes and closing them. I do think with the Jingasa, changing the price to make it more expensive would have been a better solution. Potion Glutton, on the other hand, never should have worked like it was written to begin with.

It looks like I'll make the game today after all. See you there!
