As a DM, I am preparing an encounter with three Annis Hags in a notorious AP, and wanted to ask some advice about augmenting these hags.
It seems odd to me that hags have so few spell-like powers, though perhaps Annis Hags are the poor sisters of the breed since they are large and have bigger claws. <g> And yes, I do realize that the list of additional spells they can cast when working together as a coven is nothing to sneeze at.
Nevertheless, it seems like it would be extremely thematic if one or more of these hags could cast spells and hexes as a witch. I'm leaning against simply adding witch class levels, and looking more at having her cast spells and hexes "as a 7th-level witch", kind of the same way that nagas, lamia matriarchs and a few other critters can do.
Would this be too cruel for my victims, err... <cough, cough> friendly PCs around the table? And has anyone actually worked up a stat block for such an augmented hag?
Or perhaps I could just track down the stat block for a nasty 7th-level witch and cut & paste her spells and hexes onto the hag?
Lastly, doesn't it just seem obvious for hags to cast as witches? Are there any I've missed?

As it happens, I had some similar thoughts a while back.
I recommend taking a look at Wayfinder #14. ^_^

Now that is soooo cool! New stuff for hag covens. And a little further on, I see class templates for monsters. My 7HD hag can have 3 witch hexes and a handful of witch spells. A touch of witch, without the hassle of working up a complete class listout.
Great stuff! Thanx a mil.
me: goes back to scheming...
