If the Familiar has the same ranks in skills as the master, and the master has ranks in linguistics, does the familiar learn a bonus language for each rank of linguistics it has? Furthermore, does the familiar have to know the same bonus languages as it's master?
Not suggesting that the familar can speak these languages, just in regardings to understanding them.

The familiar entry doesn't say they can either speak or understand all their master's languages so I would assume that they can't do so. That means they don't get the bonus languages.
Since Linguistics comes packaged with a language, it seems reasonable for a familiar to understand those languages, but since the familiar uses its master's ranks I would also assume they use the master's languages rather than picking a new set of languages.
Similarly, Improved Familiars can probably speak languages that the master learns from Linguistics but not other sources.

Huh? No, I was refering the bonus languages from linguistics, not the bonus languages the PC knows from race and intelligence. Totally agree that those aren't shared.
So, sake of arguement, if we only use the master's languages gained from linguistics, this means the familiar can never learn Common, since almost every player race starts with Common. Does seem weird that the familiar could learn celestial easier than they can learn common...
