Stealth vs. Darkvision

Rules Questions

I might be playing a rogue soon and I want to make sure I understand the stealth rules propely.

Quote:
When you start your turn using Stealth, you can leave cover or concealment and remain unobserved as long as you succeed at a Stealth check and end your turn in cover or concealment. Your Stealth immediately ends after you make an attack roll, whether or not the attack is successful (except when sniping as noted below).

I know its impossible to hide in plain sight from someone with darkvision without invisibility or something like it. Does the rule I quoted above mean someone can leave cover and move to another thing of cover without automatically being seen by someone with darkvision?

Why? As long as they make their check and end in cover or concealment, what makes darkvision special?

Why?

Because that's just how I thought darkvision worked, duh. :P

I thought you couldn't stealth without cover/leave cover if someone had darkvision. Admittedly, I can't seem to find something stating that now.

EDIT: Okay, here it is.

Quote:
Characters with darkvision (dwarves and half-orcs) can see lit areas normally as well as dark areas within 60 feet. A creature can't hide within 60 feet of a character with darkvision unless it is invisible or has cover.

That's what makes darkvision special!

Liberty's Edge

Darkvision would prevent a dimly lit area from counting as concealment. However, the whole point of Hide in Plain Sight is that it allows you to hide when you DON'T have concealment.

Darkvision makes dwarves (etc.) see as well in the dark as they do in the light. If circumstances would allow you to use stealth in this situation if it was light out (e.g. cover) then you can in the dark no matter how many half-orcs are looking for you.

Okay, ty. I can move from cover to cover without being instantly spotted. Good.
