question about order

So for faithless and forgotten it says

if you've played the first two when you play the third you get a boon.

Cheliax. In recognition of the PCs’ role
in inaugurating this new era of Chelish exploration, any
PCs who completed all three parts of the Faithless and
Forgotten series earn the Delvehaven Star boon on their
Chronicle sheet. Cross this boon off the sheet of any PC
who does not meet this criteria.

My question is. I GM'd the 3rd one, and thus didn't qualify at the time, and afterwards I played the first 2 with that character. A player suggested I ask about it if I can now qualify for that boon.

There's some discussion of this HERE (dotted through the rest of that page) and the consensus seems to align with the strict text of the boon: the third part must be the last chronicle earned for the PC to qualify.

You determine the boons earned at the the time you received the chronicle. Since at the time you GM'ed the 3rd adventure, your character did not qualify. So the boon should have been crossed out right then and there.

Just as a side note this only applies to this boon. There is a season 8 chronicle with a boon which is impossible to get the boons in order if you play them that way because of the way they tiered the scenarios.

Every series so far has handled this in a new and surprising way. There is no consistency between series.

If you are referring to:

8-02: Ward Asunder:

Kami Reunited boon, then that one is specifically worded so that you receive the boon, but it has no effect until you earn the other boon from the related adventure.
