Stalwart Defenders and Outslug Style

Can a character who's reached level 9 stalwart defender prestige class and gained the mobile defense ability, use Outslug Sprint and remain in their defensive stance?

Seems like a strong maybe.

Quote:

You can make quick, defensive movements.

Prerequisite(s): Int 13; Combat Expertise or brawler's cunning class feature; Lunge; Outslug Style; Outslug Weave; Weapon Focus with the chosen weapon.

Benefit(s): While using Outslug Style, you can move an additional 5 feet when making a 5-foot step.

From this, I extrapolate that the 5ft step really becomes a 10ft step that is still called "5ft step".

quote]Mobile Defense (Ex)

At 9th level, a stalwart defender can adjust his position while maintaining a defensive stance. While in a defensive stance, he can take one 5-foot step each round without losing the benefit of the stance.

This says as long as you take only 1 5ft step you can maintain the benefit.

If Outslug Sprints ability keeps the movement classified as a "5ft step" despite allowing for 10ft of movement I think it works.

I agree with Claxon. If it said you can only move 5 feet or 'move no more than 5 feet', it would be a no. His reasoning matches my own here. It's a 5-foot step, but you happen to be able to move 10 feet with it.

That's what I thought, but I figured it would be best to seek a second opinion. Thanks for your time.
