What distance do you threaten with a Sarissa?

So this weird weapon is from Giant Hunter's Handbook.

I got the part about only threatening a cone figured out but it's the first part that's stumping me.

As I read it, it's talking about diagonals vs. straight line. In a straight line you threaten 15' but not 5' or 10'. On the diagonal you threaten 10' but not 5'.

Not a perfect representation, but I think it's accurate enough. Basically think of it like a 15 foot breath attack, but it only can hit the farthest squares away from you in said cone.

The text says that you threaten spaces 10 feet away but not squares 10 feet away.

I think you're right, the intention is that you only threaten 15' away, but not 5' or 10' away. It's just written really weird.

I think you're right, the intention is that you only threaten 15' away, but not 5' or 10' away. It's just written really weird.

It's a bit badly worded. It likely has an implied "between" in there:

"... A Medium wielder would threaten spaces between 10 to and 15 feet away, but not adjacent squares or squares between 5 to and 10 feet away ..."

Does that make more sense?
