Brotherhood of Bones(Spoilers)

Curse of the Crimson Throne

So I've searched and I've searched but I've been completely unable to find the answer to this question.

Why does the Brotherhood of Bones want to collect the relics of Kazavon and not use them to resurrect him?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Note sure how much I am allowed to directly quote from source books so hopefully I don't get in trouble.

p 262 from the new hardcover (Skeletons of Scarwall)
Even in the church of Zon-Kuthon, Kazavon is regarded as an unstable Zealot whose death did more to help the church’s position than his life. Kazavon’s flair for the overly dramatic made him an easy villain to hate, and as the Ally points out, giving the church’s enemies a despicable monster to rally against is not a wise move for continued prosperity.

Ah there it is. I figured I missed it somehow just wasn't sure where.

Yeah, up until that chapter I spent the entire time wondering why they didn't want their super powerful Dragon back.

I'm actually considering having my continuing the campaign be something about a secret group within the Brotherhood of Bones actually be trying to bring him back. Then have them gain access to the relics and make the PCs fight him (because I want to use that stat block!)

It's kind of ironic, since Zon-Kuthon was also giving Kazavon all kinds of favors. Especially considering the bits about Kazavon in the final module.
