I'm GM'ing the Kingmaker AP & our group has left the Mite Lair. They only went down one side, killing Tickleback, Grabbles, & a dozen other mites before turning back from the chasm (they didn't try to cross it). The book says that the mites can repopulate up to a max pop of 31(?), my question is how long this would take?
Note: The party did acquire the statue, though they're unaware of its importance. I'm not sure if the party even needs to come back, though I'd like to give a realistic scenario of what would transpire should they return to the Sycamore.

It's quite possible that not all of the Mites were home when the party first came.
You've got hunting/gathering/war parties for a start.
Or - you could have a new tribe of Mites (visibly/thematically differentiated)
somehow - who have taken over a 'weaker' opponent...
For that matter - does it need to be Mites? Why not a new Kobold tribe or similar?

*evil grin* I think I would rule that Mites breed like rabbits while there is space to fill (ie less than 31). That is 4-12 new mites PER FEMALE every 30 days. A couple of months and they will be back to full strength with a new and better defences.
That said, It doesn't sound like they need to go back at the moment. However, you would have a nice little 'reserve' adventure should you need it - because as evil fey, the mites will be out and about making life difficult for who ever settles in that hex.
Ooooh, think of all those farmers trying to make a living with a bunch of tine evil fey as neighbours. There are plenty of traditional fairy/folk tales of evil fey that you could call on to build a mini scenario :)
