Hello, I have been meaning to test some of the Unchained rules in my next game, and I was thinking that the automatic bonus progression fits RoW fairly well due to the PCs assuming the mantle of Black Midnight and thus becoming supernatural creatures in their own right. However, I have not used this rule before and I am not sure how much it impacts the items that should be available in an AP. Has anyone used this rule in this AP (or another one) and do you have any tips?

I'm using Automatic Bonus Progression in my Hell's Rebels AP, and my player's love it! I can't recommend it enough. It helps keep the baddies on par with the PCs, keeps the PCs who tend to ignore the Big 6 in enough AC not to die, and doesn't hurt the PCs if there are long spans of time in which they can't buy and sell loot. I plan to use it for all my campaigns going forward.
Generally what I do is for each level's worth of material is make a little spreadsheet of all the loot they would get in the game. I put in all the magic items that are given out as loot and split the worth of each between what they would get under ABP and what gets taken out. Generally it comes out about even, but if it doesn't, I tweak the loot a bit in the appropriate direction. For things that come in multiples, or that have a specific gold value, I just split the gold value or number of items in half.
I also rework enemy stat blocks to give them the bonuses they would have under ABP. For the first 9 levels or so, I recommend giving all the bad guys their level minus 1 in ABP. After that, the players can handle the full on bad guys. Occasionally a boss with player wealth will actually get nerfed by ABP, and in this case, I fudge things a bit---let them keep their stats with the items they would have but not give said items to the player. The players still get their (half) share of the wealth anyway, so they're fine with it.
Good luck!
