clarification of Sniper's Lantern

Rules Questions

so I am playing a Half Drow with lesser spell like abilities trait granting me use of 1/day casting Dancing Lights.

I am considering taking the following feat which reads as follows

Sniper's Lantern

Prerequisite(s): Point-Blank Shot, dancing lights racial spell-like ability.

Benefit(s): You can use your dancing lights racial spell-like ability to create one orb of penetrating light. This light grants you a +2 insight bonus on all ranged attacks made against targets within 5 feet of the light's location. You can direct this light to a new location anywhere within the spell's range as a move action, otherwise the effect functions exactly like dancing lights. You can use this ability once per day, plus an additional time per day when your caster level for your racial dancing lights spell-like ability reaches 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th.

So i defiantly meet the prerequisites but i have a few questions

1. I am assuming creating the single orb of light is a standard action?

2. Does using this feat make you lose your 1/Day use of Dancing Lights

3. If it does use up the 1/Day Use of Dancing Lights do I need to gain additional uses of 1/Day Dancing Lights in order to activate this feat multiple times per day as it says i can at 5/10/15/20th ?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

1) Yes, because that is the default.

2) Yes, because of the clause "you can use your dancing lights racial spell-like ability to" (as opposed to "you can create").

3) Yes, same reason as (2).

Yes to all of the above. It is granting you a new use of the Dancing Lights ability, in addition to its previous uses. This still takes up usages of your ability's limited number of uses a day. You may be required to invest in the Drow Nobility feat chain to get more uses.

Okay that would all be fine, i was pretty sure that's how it works and i was considering that feat line to work with it.
