As the title says, planning to do a Cavalier, doing some pre level 1 stuff I had an amazing string of stealth checks.... So thinking I should add a bit of stealth or maybe rogue to my build.
Curious if anyone has some cool ideas. He's kinda an oddball char, Gnoll, good strength and Con, meh dex (though I may change that a bit, still building the char) going to end up riding a Giant lizard.
Can't wait to hear your guys input.

...can you do a stealth cavalier?
I am honestly curious. This isn't about honor or anything. The challenge ability... is about you actively challenging someone. Isn't that done through....shouting at them or something along those lines?
Admittedly, if you have 'hide in plain sight' then there wouldn't be any problems. Then you would be challenging them to beat your stealth.
Maybe I am just reading something into a mechanic that doesn't really have any rules requiring all that. I suppose it could be an internal thing (the only real rules from the challenge ability just say 'choose' rather than 'declare', and it is more a thing about 'concentration' on the enemy at the exclusion of other enemies)

I once drafted the following :
Halfling cavalier "horse master" archtype -ask dm for a dog not a horse.
Take spring attack and dip 1 into shadow dancer .
Get hostling armor.
Charge = 3 or 5 times damage with scimitar .
Same with spring attack.
When scouting, take hostling for the pet and hide in plain sight ...

I have a rogue cavalier, but he's certainly not about stealth. Skulking Slayer rogue (half-orcs only) gives you d8's for sneak attack with 2-handed weapons. Scout rogue is compatible and gives you sneak attack whenever you charge. He two-hands the lance while riding an axebeak (which also has reach and might trip the target)
He's more Rogue with cavalier (and scout) levels than cavalier with rogue bits though.
