Ready to Turle my Liege

Advice

Recently I've been wanting to create a halfing cavalier specializing in tower shields and well, turtles. So, is there any rule legal way to get a turtle, snapping turtle, or their ilk as my mount? I'd like to avoid multi classing if at all possible.

You're in luck it seems... Maybe if you invest points into DEX, you can make Combat Reflexes and the feat Bodyguard viable because of their High AC. Or maybe give them a 3 INT and put ranks into diplomacy and intimidate, and use the antagonize feat. Just some ideas since the only special thing about them is the natural armor.

Edit: There does seem to be tortoises if you scroll down here, but they just look like crappy turtles to me.*

*Turtles are water-based and Tortoises are land-based. The simplest way to tell them apart is that turtles have flat shells and tortoises have the iconic domes. Just in case you cared.

I actually asked for turtles due to their aquatic nature. Thanks for the info and tips!

If this isn't for PFS, check with your DM: "The GM might approve other animals as suitable mounts." I really don't think anybody should have a problem with using the Giant Snapping Turtle as a mount.

If it is for PFS, I'm afraid I can't help you. I can't really find anything about riding turtles (which is a damn shame and Paizo should get right to it!)
