Pro & Con Kirin v / Studied Combadant

Advice

Working on my character plan

He is an arcanist, but will be going into a more martial prestige (probably evangelist, maybe eldrick Knight)

For his combat side he is going to be a two weapon staff fighter

Debating on taking the first 2 feats in Kirin for a total of 4 combat feats (Two Weapon, unarmed, 2 Kirin's)

or going Studied combatant (2 studied, amateur investigator, two weapon fighting)

thoughts?

I would go Eldritch Knight with a level dip in Sohei Monk. (Martial Weapon Proficiency) That'll save spending a feat on unarmed strike and actually make the damage acceptable. The feat arcane strike or amulet of natural something can help out with that. TWF would be pretty tricky to pull off due to your BAB, as even at later levels your accuracy would be rather low.

NO one has comments on the studied Combatant?

I kind of am leaning that way....

Do not take Kirin Style if you want to be effective in combat. It's a waste of feats. Kirin style takes three rounds of swift actions before it becomes usable in a best case scenario.

Round 1: spend swift action to enter style.
Round 2: spend swift action to ID your target.
Round 3: after you hit your target spend a swift action to do 2xINT modifier on one attack only. If you're target is already dead, use a swift action to ID something else.

As an arcanist, you have better uses of your swift actions. You can cast a quickened spell you can use an exploit. You can use arcane strike to add damage to all attacks in a round without wasting the preparation time and prerequisite feats of Kirin style.

Thank you Imbicatus: I had not realized that, and agree. I liked that it went with my Intel based build, but I am really only looking for a side f combat and already do not like how many feats I am using...

You can, however, take combat stamina to skip the round 3 part. Instead, after you Id the target, you get +INT to damage on all of your attacks against that target, which is a much better payoff.
