Has anybody noticed this? I was printing pregens yesterday for a convention, and noticed that the 1st level magus pregen exists now. I checked him over and found that, at 1st level, he has spellstrike.
Spellstrike is a 2nd level magus ability, and there aren't any archetypes or anything on Setyiel that would give it to him early.
Anybody know what's going on? I'd assume that it's just there because it's a defining ability of the magus class, but I would think that if that was the intent they'd change the class, not just adjust it for a pregen.
Is it just a mistake on the part of whoever wrote up the pregen, or an intentional change for the pregen? If so, are there any other rules "adjustments" going on for any of the other pregens? I know I almost always adjust some things when I'm writing up a pregenerated characters for a convention game or something, but I'm not doing so as part of the same company that's writing the game!

Seltyiel's "creative acquisition" of spellstrike is a known issue that we discovered partway into Gen Con and spent some time revising after the convention along with several other pregenerated character corrections. That reminds me to check in and see whether those got uploaded or if they might have stalled somewhere.

I like that turn of phrase.

I know, right? Seltyiel claims to have become lawful neutral for the organized play campaign, but he's still trying to take everything for himself.

Yeah the pregens often have rules that are a bit different from norm. For example Yoon is size small as a human.
I always assumed Yoon was supposed to have the Young template, though I have never bothered to check if her stats match up. Should be -4 Str, -4 Con, +4 Dex, and Small size. The adjustments to natural armor don't mean anything to a human.

I don't need to check her stats to recall she can't have the Young template - she has Con 17 at level 1.

As Tyler notes, this is a case where we carefully considered the character's art and backstory against the rules of the organized play campaign. We decided in favor of presenting her as a young person by making her Small without tinkering with much else.

Yoon doesn't have the young template. She is simply a small human.

The deal with pregens, if I remember right, is that they create them at lv7 and then work backwards. Thus them forgetting to remove some things or that they wouldn't qualify at that level happen.
Nah, it's much more intuitive to start at 1st level and build up from there. We often have a few distinct pieces that we want to see happen at higher level (e.g. By 7th level, XXPregen should have YYFeat and own a ZZItem), but a lot of it happens from the ground up while following a pregen design guidelines document I created a few years ago.

Since the magus pregen was only recently released, several years after the release of Ultimate Magic... I suspect that this is not the reason. ^_^
